Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that women’s education will be made free up to graduation and degree levels.
He made this statement while addressing the public meeting organized by the district BNP at the Jessore Eidgah Maidan around 5:30 pm on Monday (April 27).
The Prime Minister said that when the country’s leader Khaleda Zia was in charge of running the country from 1991 to 1996, she made education free for girls up to Matric so that mothers and sisters would not be deprived of the light of education. Later, when the country’s leader Khaleda Zia was again in charge of running the country from 2001 to 2006, she made education free for girls up to Intermediate.
Tarique Rahman said, BNP is the party of Shaheed Zia, the party of national leader Khaleda Zia. This BNP is currently running the government. BNP wants to complete the unfinished work of Shaheed Zia and Khaleda Zia. That is why we have decided – InshaAllah, we will make the education system for girls free up to graduation and degree. So that girls can get higher education. Not only that, we will provide stipends from the government to all the girls who get good results.
The Prime Minister said, before the election, we said, “Talk about mosques in Bangladesh, talk about madrasas, or all the people who are in places of worship of other religions – religious gurus, mosque imams, khatibs, or muezzins, many of these people live inhumane lives. We said that if we are able to form a government, we will make arrangements for respect for these people. With your prayers and the grace of Allah, we have also started that work.”
He said, “If BNP is able to form the government, we will waive off agricultural loans up to 10,000 taka with interest – we have implemented this promise within the first seven to ten days of forming the government. InshaAllah, about 1.2 million farmers across Bangladesh will get this benefit. We want to stand by the farmer brothers so that they can gradually stand on a strong economic foundation – that is why we talked about the farmer card. We have also started the work of issuing that farmer card, InshaAllah.”
Regarding employment for the unemployed, Tarique Rahman said, “Many young people in Bangladesh, whether boys or girls, are unemployed. They may have education but there are no employment opportunities. We said we would make arrangements to reopen the closed factories. InshaAllah, we will gradually reopen many closed factories in Bangladesh in the next few months.”
Regarding the export of manpower abroad, he said, “Our manpower has decreased or stopped going to different countries of the world. We have talked to several countries and taken decisions. InshaAllah, our people will be able to provide employment in those countries very soon.”
Regarding the canal digging project, the Prime Minister said, “We have decided that in the next five years, InshaAllah, we will dig 20,000 kilometers of canals across Bangladesh. Because the water from these canals will be used by farmers for irrigation. Allah Almighty has made the soil of Bangladesh so fertile that only if water is given at the right time, beautiful crops will be produced. If the canals can be dug, the people around will be able to cultivate fish, raise ducks and provide employment by planting trees on both sides of the canals.”
Regarding sports development, he said, “I am going to Sylhet on the 2nd of next month. From there, we will start the work of recruiting new and professional players throughout Bangladesh. Among them, we have arranged to honor 500 players who are professional players on behalf of the government.”
