The final game and award distribution ceremony of the Gold Cup Football Tournament with the participation of primary school boys and girls in Kotalipara Upazila of Gopalganj have been completed.

On Monday (April 27) morning, Sonailbari Government Primary School and Sitakunda Government Primary School participated in the final game in the boys’ category held at the KP Model Government Primary School ground of the upazila. The boys’ team of Sonailbari Government Primary School won the match 4-1 and became the champion.

On the other hand, in the girls’ category, Nalua Feeder Government Primary School won the title by winning 1-0 in the final between Nalua Feeder Government Primary School and Sonailbari Government Primary School.

This tournament organized with the participation of a total of 187 primary schools of the upazila created great enthusiasm among the students.

Kotalipara Upazila Executive Officer Sagufta Haque presided over the program.

Later, he handed over the prizes to the winners. Upazila Executive Officer Sagufta Haque said, children are the future of the country. There is no alternative to sports to develop them as healthy, conscious and humane citizens. By playing on the field, they not only become physically strong, but also acquire discipline, team spirit and leadership qualities. Today’s event proves that our students can succeed in any field if given the opportunity. Regular sports and cultural practices are very important to keep children away from drugs, mobile addiction and various social degradation.

Upazila BNP President MM Mohiuddin, General Secretary Abul Bashar Hawlader, Municipal BNP General Secretary Oliur Rahman Hawlader, Upazila Primary Education Officer Shekhar Ranjan Bhakta, Upazila Assistant Primary Education Officers, teachers and students of various schools, journalists and officials and employees of various departments were present at the program.

Upazila BNP President MM Mohiuddin said, “If students are involved in sports along with their studies, they will grow up in a healthy way and the number of deviants from society will decrease.”

Upazila Primary Education Officer Shekhar Ranjan Bhakta said that this arrangement of sports at the primary level will play an important role in the physical and mental development of students. Such arrangements need to be expanded further.

In the tournament, Jayanta Tripura of Sonailbari Government Primary School was selected as the best player in the boys’ category and Dia Baroi of Nalua Feeder Government Primary School was selected as the best player in the girls’ category.
