Jessore Medical College is getting a hospital after 16 years of its establishment. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the construction of the 500-bed Jessore Medical College Hospital on Monday (April 27).
The Prime Minister said that the government is working to provide medical services at the doorsteps of the people of the country to give the gift of a healthy and strong nation. The government has plans to provide medical services in private institutions under government management.
He said that medical services are very expensive in the world. Therefore, along with medical services, we must also increase our immunity. The number of patients must be gradually reduced.
For this, one lakh new health workers will be recruited in the country. 80 percent of them will be women. These health workers will be spread all over the country. They will convince the female heads of families about the quality of food. Diseases will have to be prevented by changing dietary habits. This will also reduce the pressure of patients in hospitals.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman reached Jessore Medical College campus by road after inaugurating the Ulashi Canal re-excavation project in Sharsha. He got down from a special vehicle with the slogan ‘Bangladesh first’ and exchanged greetings with the well-wishers. He then went up on the stage to give an overview of the Jessore Medical College Hospital project. Later, he inaugurated the construction of the hospital by pressing a button.
Health Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain Bakul also spoke at the inaugural ceremony, moderated by State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit.
BNP Vice Chairman Professor Nargis Begum, Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahjalal, State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad and local parliament members were present at the event.
