A 10-year-old child was raped and another 8-year-old child was attempted to be raped in Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon. The victim’s father has filed a written complaint with the police station against an elderly neighbor in this incident. The child is currently undergoing treatment at Naogaon Sadar Hospital in a serious condition.

The incident took place in Hudrakuri village of Kola union of the upazila. The accused has been identified as Md. Abdus Sattar (60) . He is the son of deceased Qadir Uddin Sardar of the same village.

According to the family and the complaint, on the afternoon of April 11, the victim’s mother went to cut grass in the field next to the house and her father was in Joypurhat for masonry work. Taking this opportunity, the neighbor, old man Abdus Sattar, lured the child (10), a fourth-grade student, and his playmate (8) to his abandoned mud house, tempting them with biscuits and ice cream.

There, he forcibly raped the older child and attempted to rape the younger child. When the children cried, he threatened to kill them if they did not tell anyone about the incident.

The children did not tell anyone about the incident out of fear. However, the child started feeling severe pain in his lower abdomen from the day after the incident. When his condition deteriorated on the morning of April 17, his family members admitted him to Naogaon Sadar Hospital . When questioned by the hospital doctor, the child revealed the entire incident. Later, the other child also confessed the truth of the incident to his mother.

The father of the victim child said: “The defendant is my neighbor’s uncle. Taking advantage of our good relationship, he has ruined my daughter. My daughter is crying in pain. I want exemplary punishment for this beast.”

According to Badalgachhi Police Station sources, the victim’s father has filed a complaint with the police station in this regard.

Badalgachhi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ruhul Amin said the complaint is being viewed with great seriousness. The medical examination of the victim child is underway and the police operation to arrest the accused is ongoing.
