The new Bengali year 1433 was welcomed in Narsingdi with colorful arrangements and a festive atmosphere. On the occasion of the new year, a colorful Mangal Shobhajatra was taken out from the Narsingdi District Stadium on Tuesday (April 14) morning.
The Mangal Shobhajatra, organized by the district administration, circled the main roads of the city and ended at the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Various folk motifs, placards and musical instruments were displayed in the procession to highlight the traditions of present-day Bengal. People from different classes of the district participated in it.
Narsingdi Deputy Commissioner Israt Jahan Keya was present as the chief guest at the event and Superintendent of Police Md. Abdullah-al-Farooq was present as the special guest.  In addition, senior officials and employees of various government departments, teachers and students of various schools, colleges and madrasas, and representatives of local social and cultural organizations participated in the Mangal Shobhajatra.
​After the procession, a fascinating cultural program was organized at the premises of the District Commissioner’s office. Patriotic songs, folk songs and dances were performed by local artists at the program.​Special security measures were taken by the district police to complete the New Year’s Eve program in a peaceful and festive atmosphere.
