Human chain demanding nationalization of independent Ebtedayi Madrasa in Gaibandha
Teachers have held a human chain program in Gaibandha demanding the nationalization of independent Ebtedayi Madrasas like primary schools. The hour-long human chain was held in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Gaibandha-Palashbari road on Wednesday (April 15) afternoon, organized by the Independent Ebtedayee Madrasa Teachers' Unity Movement Implementation Committee district branch. Teachers have held a human chain program in Gaibandha demanding the nationalization of independent Ebtedayi Madrasas like primary schools.
The hour-long human chain was held in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Gaibandha-Palashbari road on Wednesday (April 15) afternoon, organized by the Independent Ebtedayee Madrasa Teachers’ Unity Movement Implementation Committee district branch.
Teachers from Ebtedayi Madrasas in various upazilas of the district participated in the human chain.

Speakers at the human chain said that despite being recognized by the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board, they have been deprived of salaries, allowances and government facilities for a long time. Although Ebtedayi Madrasas are considered part of primary education according to the 1978 ordinance, in reality, that recognition has not been fully implemented.
The teachers also said that although primary schools have been nationalized, Ebtedayi madrasas are still left out of the process. As a result, teachers are living in inhuman conditions.
Calling for the implementation of demands, including speedy nationalization, the speakers warned that they would launch a tough movement if their demands were not met within the stipulated time.
