The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU), renowned specialist physician Professor Dr. FM Siddiqui, held a series of introductory meetings with the respected residents, nurses, medical technologists and employees of the university at the A Block Auditorium today, Wednesday, April 8, 2026. In the exchange of views, the Honorable Vice Chancellor said to the residents, residents or students are the life of this university. I have enjoyed teaching greatly in my life and am still doing so. I would like to say to the respected residents that this is their best time to develop themselves as skilled, humane specialist doctors for the country and the whole world. When a patient comes to the doctor for medical services, he will consider that patient as the most important person and provide medical services. The patient will see in such a way that the patient becomes your fan, the patient depends on you, gains trust and the patient comes to seek you. And he will make himself world-class with his talent and knowledge. This has to be done amidst various problems and limitations. If there is any disappointment, that disappointment has to be turned into success. Only then is life meaningful and possible. The exchange of views was moderated by BMU Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, and the Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of BMU, Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader, Treasurer Professor Dr. Nahrin Akhtar, Proctor Dr. Sheikh Farhad, Resident Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, Resident Dr. Saiduzzaman, and others spoke. The exchange of views was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Dr. Shamim Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Surgery, Professor Dr. Md. Ibrahim Siddique, Dean of the Faculty of Children, Professor Dr. Md. Atiar Rahman, Director (Hospital) Brigadier General Irteka Rahman, Deputy Registrar (Law) Associate Professor Dr. Abu Hena Helal Uddin Ahmed, and others. Other speakers addressed the residents and said, “We must develop ourselves into good people, humane doctors. We must serve patients with sincerity. In terms of education, we must attend classes on time and utilize this time of higher medical education properly to make ourselves an idol doctor.”In the exchange of views, the esteemed residents highlighted the need to streamline the testing process, resolve housing issues, and ensure necessary measures to provide emergency services to patients. For the nurses and medical technologists, Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. FM Siddiqui said, we have to set ourselves as an example. We have to serve the patients and complete other necessary service activities in the same way. We have to talk to the patients with a smile. We have to fulfill our respective responsibilities properly to ensure the quality of service to the patients. We have to prepare ourselves in such a way that everyone in the country says that BMU’s nurses and medical technologists are the best in the country. In order to achieve this, we have to serve the patients in that way, and we must also perform other necessary service activities correctly from our respective positions. Addressing the employees, Honorable Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. FM Siddiqui said, “You must wear official dress and carry your ID card.
