Woman killed in road accident in Narail
Tashiran Ness, 55, was on her way to her daughter-in-law's house in Narail Sadar Upazila. She was killed when a truck hit her while crossing the highway after she got off a passenger bus that had left from Khulna. Ujjwal Roy, district representative from Narail, said the accident occurred on the road in front of the Auria toll booth on the Kalna-Narail-Jashore highway in the upazila around noon on Monday (April 6).
Tularampur Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Sekender Ali confirmed the matter.
The deceased, Tashiron Nesa, was the wife of Majid Sheikh of Bhandarpara area of Dumuria upazila in Khulna district. She was on her way to her son-in-law’s house, Kamal Sheikh’s house in Gopalpur village of Banshgram union in Sadar upazila.
According to local sources, the woman, named Tachiran Nesa, was crossing the highway after getting off a passenger bus from Khulna in front of the Auria toll booth on the Kalna-Narail-Jashore highway around noon on Monday. At that time, a truck heading to Benapole ran over her and seriously injured her. Later, local people rescued her and took her to Narail District Hospital, where the doctor on duty at the emergency department declared her dead after examination.
The deceased’s daughter, Moyna Begum Begum, said, “I asked my mother to come because my younger daughter was going to have a cesarean section. That’s why my mother was coming from my elder daughter’s house in Dumuria, Khulna to our house in Gopalpur.”
In this regard, Tularampur Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Sekender Ali said, the deadly truck has been seized. The truck driver is absconding in this incident, efforts are underway to arrest him. After the legal process, the body has been handed over to the relatives.
