Naogaon District Detective Branch (DB) has arrested four members of an inter-district robbery gang. During this time, tools used in robbery and looted goods were recovered from them.
Police said that on the night of March 31, robbers blocked the road with ropes at the Fakir intersection on the Sannaigachi-Khatapara road in Porsha upazila and took six people on two motorcycles hostage. Later, they robbed them of about 60,000 taka in cash, four mobile phones and two 190 cc Discover motorcycles by threatening them with knives and sharp weapons.
After the incident, a special team of DB, under the direction of the district police, conducted a drive with the help of information technology and within 24 hours, raided various areas of Naogaon, Bogra, Gaibandha and Joypurhat districts and arrested four robbers.
The arrested persons are Golam Mostafa alias Shyamal (55) of Naogaon Sadar Upazila, Abu Taher (56) and his son Kamal Hossain (23) of Sapahar Upazila, and Mostak Ahmed Zahidul (46) of Mahadevpur Upazila.
Police have recovered various evidence including weapons, masks, ropes, mobile phones used in the robbery from them. The police said that the operation is continuing to arrest others involved in the incident.
