Police have arrested seven Yaba users in a special operation in Mohammadpur Upazila of Magura.
Later, they were sentenced to jail and fined through a mobile court. The mobile court was conducted at the Upazila Nirbahi Officer’s office on Wednesday afternoon.
The arrested are Sagar, son of Abu Bakkar of Baria village, Mamun, son of Habibur Rahman of Dhawil village, Nur Islam, son of Garib Sheikh of the same village, Sumon, son of Dulal Sheikh, Riaz, son of Abu Taleb Sheikh of Bejra village, Muljar, son of Rob Munshi, and Rakib, son of Harun Sheikh of Dhawil village.
According to the mobile court sources, Sagar has been sentenced to 3 months’ imprisonment and Muljar to 1 month’s imprisonment. Legal action has been taken against the others.
The mobile court was run by Mohammadpur Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Md. Shahanur Zaman.
Mohammadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ashrafuzzaman said that a police team conducted a raid as part of a special anti-drug operation and was able to arrest them. He added that such raids will continue to eradicate drugs.
