He said, based on secret information, it is known that a large consignment of Yaba will be going to Chittagong from Shahparir Island, Jaliapara Salt Mine under Teknaf Police Station in Cox’s Bazar in a covered van. Based on the information received, Friday, March 27, 2026, at 7:30 am, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Teknaf on the Baraitali Main Road adjacent to the Naf River under Teknaf Police Station. During the operation, a suspicious covered van was searched in the area and 1 drug smuggler was arrested along with 3 lakh 30 thousand pieces of Yaba worth about 16 crore 50 lakh taka hidden in a specially prepared secret chamber under the floor. On the other hand, based on another secret information, it was learned that a shipment of Yaba from Myanmar would enter Bangladesh through the Naf River. Based on the information received, the Bangladesh Coast Guard increased radar surveillance and special patrols in the area. Then, Friday, March 27, 2026, at 2:00 am, a suspicious fishing boat from Myanmar entered Bangladeshi waters through the sea area adjacent to Golarchar, Shahpari Island, when the Coast Guard Outpost Shahpari conducted a special operation in the area and was able to seize the boat. During this time, 4 drug smugglers were arrested along with 60,000 pieces of Yaba worth about 3 crore taka in the seized boat. The process of taking further legal action against the seized Yaba, the boat and covered van used in smuggling, and the arrested drug smugglers is under process. He also said that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent drug trafficking.
