Fire Service and Civil Defense distributed leaflets at Amar Ekushey Book Fair to raise awareness about preventing various accidents including fires. This leaflet distribution program was conducted at the Book Fair today, March 13, 2026 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Leaflets were handed over to visitors of all professions who came to the fair. Leaflets were also distributed among the workers at various stalls. At one stage of the leaflet distribution, the Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs fell down in front and happily accepted the leaflets. In addition, popular musician and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director Mr. Asif Akbar participated in a photo session with the officers and employees of the Fire Service after accepting the leaflets. The Honorable Law Minister and Asif Akbar, along with many others, highly appreciated this awareness-raising activity of the Fire Service. There is no alternative to awareness to reduce the risk of accidents. Therefore, on the instructions of Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal, NDC, AFWC, PSC, Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defense, the Fire Service has taken this initiative to distribute leaflets at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair to make the public aware. Leaflets on what to do in case of fire were distributed at the book stalls on both sides of the Suhrawardy Udyan and Bangla Academy of the book fair and to visitors coming to the fair. This activity was started from in front of the temporary control room of the Fire Service at Suhrawardy Udyan under the leadership of Mr. Md. Anwarul Islam, Warehouse Inspector of the Media Cell. The Fire Service constantly conducts public relations, topography, static rallies, drills, training, etc. to prevent fires. Distribution of leaflets at the book fair is part of this continuity. Along with distributing leaflets at the book fair, the fire service hotline number 102 was also promoted. At that time, a visitor called the fire service hotline number as a test. He said in his response, ‘At first, I thought they might not respond. But after calling, I was proven wrong. I am very grateful to all of you. ‘It is worth noting that there is a stall of the Fire Service at the book fair. Books and leaflets on what to do to prevent various accidents have been kept there. This stall has been distributing leaflets and selling books on fire safety at affordable prices since the first day of the fair. In addition, on the instructions of the Director General, free instructions on what to do in case of fire, earthquake and lightning are distributed to children every Friday. They are taught how to use fire extinguishers. This program will continue until the last day of the fair.
