In order to further strengthen and enhance the aviation safety system in Bangladesh, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Search and Rescue (SAR) and Rescue and Fire Fighting (RFF) has been signed between the Fire Service and Civil Defense Department (FSCD) and the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA). The main objective of this MoU is to strengthen cooperation between the two organizations and ensure quick, coordinated and effective rescue and fire fighting operations in case of possible accidents, fires or emergencies at the airport and surrounding areas. The MoU was signed at a simple ceremony held at the conference room of the Chairman of BCAA, located at Level-6 of the BCAA Headquarters in Kurmitola, Dhaka, on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 10:30 am. The Chief Guest was the Chairman of BCAA, Air Vice Marshal Md. Mustafa Mahmud Siddique, BSP, GUP, NDC, AFWC, ACSC, PSC, and the Special Guest was the Director General of FSCD, Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal, NDC, AFWC, PSC. Director (ATM) of BCAA Md. Shamsul Haque and Deputy Director (Operations and Maintenance) of Fire Service and Civil Defense Department Md. Mamunur Rashid, BFM signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations. Officials of BCAA, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Ministry of Home Affairs, Fire Service and Civil Defense Department and journalists from electronic and print media were present at the occasion. According to the MoU, both organizations will work to strengthen aviation safety through rapid response in emergency situations, coordinated training, information exchange, and necessary technical assistance. This will further strengthen the capabilities of dealing with potential accidents, conducting rescue operations, and firefighting in the airport area.
