BMU DAB leaders have extended their greetings and congratulations to the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) Professor Dr. AFM Siddiqui. Today, Tuesday, March 10, 2026, BMU DAB President and University Director (Planning and Development) Professor Dr. Erfanul Haque Siddiqui and BMU DAB Honorable General Secretary and University Proctor Dr. Sheikh Farhad led the BMU DAB leaders to visit the private chamber of the newly appointed Vice Chancellor and offer their greetings and congratulations. The newly appointed Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. AFM Siddiqui urged the BMU DAB leaders to work together to take medical education, medical services and research of Bangladesh Medical University forward.  At this time, BMU’s Faculty of Medical Technology Dean and DAB Central Committee Member Dermatologist Professor Dr. M Abu Hena Chowdhury, Faculty of Pediatrics Dean and DAB Central Committee Vice-Chairman Professor Dr. Md. Atiar Rahman, DAB Central Committee Vice-Chairman Colorectal Surgeon Associate Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam, DAB Central Committee Vice-Chairman Dr. Md. Shahidul Hasan Babul, Additional Registrar-1 and DAB Central Committee Member Dr. Md. Delwar Hossain Tito, BMU Assistant Proctor and Associate Professor Dr. Rifat Rahman, Obstetrics and Gynecology Department Assistant Professor Dr. Anjuman Ara, Urology Department Physician and DAB Central Committee Joint Secretary General Dr. Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, among others were present. It is worth mentioning that on Monday (March 9, 2026), a notification signed by Deputy Secretary Sanjeev Das from the Medical Education-1 Branch of the Health Education and Family Welfare Department informed that Dr. FM Siddiqui, former professor of the Department of Medicine of Dhaka Medical College, has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University as the Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University, ‘with the approval of His Excellency the President and the Chancellor’, as per Section 12 of the Bangladesh Medical University Act, 1998 (as amended by Ordinance No. 12 of 2025).’ As a condition of appointment, it has been stated that the term of his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor will be 4 years from the date of joining; he will enjoy other benefits related to the post of Vice-Chancellor as per the rules, including salary and allowances, and will perform his duties as the Vice-Chancellor as per Section 14 of the Bangladesh Medical University Act, 1998 (as amended by Ordinance No. 12 of 2025).
