The Structured Clinical Assessment (SCA) Question Bank has been inaugurated at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU). The Structured Clinical Assessment (SCA) Question Bank has been inaugurated at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU). The event organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at BMU’s Shaheed Dr. Milton Hall today, Thursday, March 5, 2026, was graced by the Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shahinul Alam, Controller of Examinations Professor Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman, who handed over the documents of the SCA Bank questions and answers. 518 honorable faculties of BMU participated in the SCA Bank activities and they prepared 5,180 question and answer sets from various departments of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Surgery, Faculty of Pediatrics, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Basic Science and Paraclinical Science and submitted them to the SCA Bank. This program will be marked as a groundbreaking achievement and milestone in BMU’s higher medical education. The necessary workshops on SCA have already been completed. This is the first such initiative in BMU’s educational program.
The SCA Bank inauguration ceremony was hosted by BMU’s Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam. Dean of the Faculty of Surgery Professor Dr. Md. Ibrahim Siddique highlighted the current challenges and future opportunities of SCA Bank. The guest of honor at the event was Vice-Chancellor of Khulna Medical University Professor Dr. Md. Ruhul Amin. The special guest was Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader, Treasurer Professor Dr. Nahrin Akhtar. The Director of IQAC Professor Dr. Nurunnahar Khanam presided over the event. The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of BMU Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Children’s Professor Dr. Md. Atiar Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Technology Professor Dr. M. Abu Hena Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Professor Dr. Md. Monir Hossain Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Dr. Sakhawat Hossain, Proctor Dr. Sheikh Farhad, Chairman of the Department of Neonatology Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Director (Planning and Development) Dr. Erfanul Haque Siddiqui, Director (Hospital) Brigadier General Irteka Rahman, Additional Director of IQAC Dr. Deen-e-Mujahid Mohammad Faruk Osmani, Additional Director Dr. Abu Saleh Mohammad Abu Obaida, course directors of various faculties, representatives of various affiliated institutions and others held an open discussion.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shahinul Alam said, the current administration of BMU has taken effective initiatives to improve all aspects of higher medical education. It has revamped the residency program. It has taken necessary steps to enhance and develop the skills of the faculties. Emphasis has been given to necessary areas including review, evaluation, and review in the educational program. Monitoring activities have been strengthened. As a result, along with the increase in the quality of higher medical education, positive results will be obtained in increasing the pass rate in the examination. These activities will also contribute to the production of skilled specialist doctors and even quality teachers. Many countries in the world have progressed, neighboring countries have progressed, and BMU’s higher medical education programs should be promoted in line with them. It is desirable that BMU will play a different role in the world in producing skilled and qualified doctors and teachers. We should move forward with the goal that the people of this country, the people of the world, and patients will benefit from BMU’s education, treatment, and research. He said, for the first time, a Structural Clinical Assessment (SCA) Bank with more than 5,000 questions has been formed in this university. Important changes have been made in the current assessment system with the aim of improving the quality of education.
