A hands-on training workshop on writing theses, research papers and manuscripts, and searching journals and articles using HINARI was held at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU).  Saturday, January 17, 2026, at BMU’s A Block Auditorium, 700 Phase B resident students and doctors of BMU participated in this training program titled ‘Hands-On Training on Using HINARI for Journal, Article Searching for Protocol, Thesis & Manuscript Writing’.
In his speech as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the workshop, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shahinul Alam said, “Do research that is needed by the people of the country. So that the research is useful for the welfare of the patients. Care should be taken that the research can contribute to the prevention and cure of diseases. Emphasis should also be given to knowing the real status of a subject through research, finding the causes and identifying the means of remediation. Research should be of international standard and more emphasis should be placed on publishing the research in international standard journals. The knowledge gained from various researches can be translated and applied in clinical practice for the welfare of the patients. One should prepare oneself as an international standard expert doctor, teacher, researcher and in this regard, effective initiatives have been taken by the BMU administration to provide all kinds of support.”
In his speech, BMU’s Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader said, “In the era of digitalization, there is no room for analog. There is no alternative to hands-on training to write high-quality theses and research papers. Considering that, today’s training program for resident students. It is expected that today’s residents will lead the country’s medical education and healthcare in the future by making themselves skilled and qualified and world-class doctors and researchers.”
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad also spoke as a special guest at the important training workshop. Librarian and Chairman of the Department of Anesthesia Professor Dr. Md. Mostafa Kamal delivered the inaugural speech. BMU Director (Hospital) Brigadier Irteka Rahman, Additional Librarian Sufia Begum, Deputy Librarian Associate Professor Dr. Md. Nahiduzzaman Sajjad and others were present at the workshop.
