The chief guest at the inaugural ceremony held on the evening of 30 November 2025 at a hotel in the capital was Professor Dr. Md. Sayedur Rahman , Special Assistant to the Honorable Chief Advisor ( State Minister rank ) in charge of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare . In his speech as the chief guest , Professor Dr. Md. Sayedur Rahman said , 180 million people of the country look to the country’s doctors for medical services . In order to meet the expectations of the people and patients of the country , the government is working to transform the entire health system towards welfare . The aim is that all people of the country should receive medical services according to their needs . The current health system is not ensuring fairness to all people and patients of the country . Therefore, as the government has paid attention to that , doctors also have a responsibility to think about this. What can be done to meet the needs of patients in the health system, ordinary patients cannot do it . Experts , doctors collectively can contribute to determining what to do in this regard , including influencing policymakers . Doctors must understand how long patients wait and how much they cry for an ICU , radiotherapy service for a person , to receive proper medical care , and for necessary medicines . All of us , especially doctors , have a responsibility to do what can be done to ensure medical services for ordinary patients and poor people . Which I understand as a doctor . In his speech, he also called for attention to ensure that healthcare does not surrender to commerce . In addition, in his speech, he expressed gratitude to the country’s orthopedic surgeons and ophthalmologists for their contribution to the treatment of those injured in the July Movement .

At the inaugural ceremony, Member Secretary of Bangladesh Orthopaedic Society ( Member Secretary ) Dr. Erfanul Siddiqui said , a total of 1,575 people , including faculty , senior and young surgeons , and 14 foreign experts , participated in the Bangladesh Orthopaedic Society Conference 2025. 202 scientific papers were presented at the conference , 30 high-quality scientific sessions were held . This conference has become an important milestone in the country’s orthopaedic arena . The main goal of this important conference is to create a knowledge exchange platform where innovation and experience will meet , international progress will be connected with the local context of Bangladesh , and where new ideas will be transformed into practical practice . Orthopaedic medicine is constantly advancing , with advances in trauma care , arthroplasty , spine surgery , oncology , sports medicine , paediatric orthopaedics , and rehabilitation changing the way we treat patients every day . Therefore, Bangladesh needs to strengthen its ability to keep pace with this global trend . In that regard , this conference is very significant . Dr. Erfanul Siddiqui said that this conference has provided a great educational opportunity for orthopaedic surgeons in Bangladesh . Through the experience of international experts , research presentations , modern surgical techniques, and interactive discussions, participants will be able to further improve their clinical knowledge , surgical skills , and decision- making . At the same time , opportunities will be created for collaboration , consultation , and long-term academic relationships . At the same time , patients in Bangladesh will be the real beneficiaries of this conference . Improved surgical techniques , improved per- operative care and a deeper understanding of post- operative rehabilitation issues will ensure safer , more effective and humane healthcare for patients . Faster recovery , fewer complications and improved functional outcomes are the ultimate goals of this conference . Therefore, this conference is not just an academic event but a commitment to excellence , a celebration of progress . And an important step towards a healthier Bangladesh . The conference was addressed as special guests by Honorable Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Md. Saidur Rahman , Director General of the Directorate of HealthEducation Professor Dr. Nazmul Hossain , Advisor to the BNP Chairperson and Executive Director of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation Professor Dr. Farhad Halim Doner , President of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh ( DAB ) Professor Dr. Harun Al Rashid , President of the National Doctors Forum ( NDF ) Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam , Secretary General of DAB Dr. Md . Zahirul Islam Shakil . Director of NITOR and Convener of Bangladesh Orthopaedic Society Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kenan presided over the event , and welcome speeches were delivered by Professor Dr. Wakil Ahmed , Dr. Erfanul Siddiqui , Dr. Shah Mohammad Aman Ullah . Dr. Mizanur Rahman proposed the vote of thanks . More than 1,500 orthopedic surgeons , including Dr. Sheikh Farhad , Proctor Orthopedist of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) , were present at the event .

The special guests at the conference said that orthopedics is one of the few subjects that have made progress in medical science in Bangladesh . The country ‘s orthopedic surgeons have provided services to many war-wounded freedom fighters during and after the country’s liberation war . Even today, orthopedic doctors are making an outstanding contribution to patient service . In the present and future , we must move forward by ensuring the development and prosperity of orthopedic subjects according to the needs of the country’s patients .
