Coast Guard seizes sarees worth Tk 5 crore in Fatullah

The Coast Guard has seized a huge quantity of Indian sarees worth around 50 million taka that were smuggled through customs duty evasion in Fatulla, Narayanganj. This information was given by Coast Guard Media Officer Lt. Commander Siam-ul-Haq on the evening of Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
He said, based on secret information, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Pagla in the area adjacent to Kutubpur Pagla Bazar under Fatullah Police Station of Narayanganj from 12 midnight to 7 am on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. During the operation, a suspicious truck was searched in the area and the truck driver was arrested along with 2,282 pieces of Indian sarees worth about 5.13 crore taka, illegally evading customs duties.
Further legal action on the seized goods is under process. The truck driver and helpers have been released along with the truck on bail. He also said that the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent smuggling.
