Several smaller earthquakes, including a magnitude 5.7 earthquake, were felt in Bangladesh at 10:38 am on 21-11-2025. In this situation, the Fire Service and Civil Defense are urging everyone to take the following measures during an earthquake without panicking.

What to do during an earthquake:
(1) If you feel an earthquake, do not panic, stay calm and steady. If you are on the ground floor of a building, quickly get out and take shelter in an open area.
(2) If in a multi-story building, follow the Drop-Cover-Hold method: Get down low, get under a sturdy table/desk, and hold on tightly to the pole. Or, take shelter next to a column, under a beam. If possible, cover your head with a pillow, cushion, or similar object.
(3) Avoid using elevators during an earthquake. As soon as the earthquake stops, turn off the electricity and gas connections immediately.
(4) Stay away from verandas, balconies, windows, bookshelves, cupboards, wooden furniture or any hanging heavy objects. Keep a torch, helmet, emergency medicine and whistle close at hand so that they can be used if necessary.
(5) If you are outside, take shelter in an open area away from trees, tall buildings, electric poles, etc.
(6) If you are in a car, stop your car away from overbridges, flyovers, trees, and electric poles. Stay inside your car until the shaking stops.
(7) After an earthquake, there may be another earthquake. Stay away from damaged buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure. Because they can be damaged again in the next earthquake and cause loss of life.
(8) With the collective efforts and awareness of everyone, it is possible to limit the damage caused by the earthquake. For emergency services, contact:  Fire Service and Civil Defense Hotline Number: 102.
