A human chain has been formed in Durgapur, Netrokona, demanding a fair and impartial investigation into the murder of journalist Lutfor Zaman Fakir Alif and exemplary punishment for those involved. So far, two suspects have been arrested in the incident. However, the participants in the human chain have demanded that others involved in the murder be quickly arrested and brought to justice.

This human chain was held in front of the Netrokona District Press Club today, Thursday (October 22) at the initiative of Rural Journalists Foundation (RJF) District Branch President Sujadul Islam Faras and General Secretary Ershadul Haque Joni. The chief guest was the President of the Central Committee S.M. Zahirul Islam. Other speakers were M. Mukhalesur Khan, former General Secretary of Netrokona District Press Club, freedom fighter Haider Jahan Chowdhury, and others. Representatives of print, online news portals and electronic media working in the district were also present.

Participants in the human chain held banners demanding justice for the murder of journalist Alif Fakir. They said the killing of a journalist is not only an irreparable loss to a family, but is also a matter of deep concern for media freedom and the safety of journalists.

The speakers said that journalists portray various irregularities, corruption and crimes in society. Attacks and murders on them hinder the environment for independent journalism. Therefore, it is important to ensure speedy justice for serious crimes like the murder of journalists.

They also said that progress has been made in the investigation as two accused have already been arrested in the incident. However, arrest alone is not enough, the real cause of the murder must be revealed, all those involved must be identified and arrested, and exemplary punishment must be ensured by proving the crime in court.

The human chain demanded an impartial and fair investigation into the murder of journalist Alif Faruk, punishment of the arrested accused through proper judicial process, and ensuring the safety of journalists.

At the time, the speakers urged the relevant law enforcement agencies and administration to quickly complete the investigation and bring everyone involved in the murder to justice.
