A young man named Aslam Hossain (28) entered the premises of Kalai Police Station in Joypurhat and beat up three policemen with a wooden baton before they could realize anything and quickly fled. In that incident, three policemen were rescued injured and taken to the Upazila Health Complex for treatment. Currently, the three policemen are resting in a remote area. The incident took place inside Kalai Police Station on October 19 (Monday) at 7:15 pm. The next day, on October 20, the police filed a case with the police station. A day after the incident, the police arrested Aslam Hossain, who was involved in the beating, on the night of October 20 and sent him to jail today, Wednesday afternoon.
The three injured policemen are Kalai Police Station Constable Mahmudul Hasan Rocky, driver Constable Masud Rana and SI (unarmed) Ahsan Habib. Aslam Hossain, who was involved in the incident of beating the police, is the son of Munsur Rahman of Thupsar Mahallar of Kalai Municipality.
According to the case, on Monday (October 19) at around 7:30 pm, the police members of Kalai Police Station were preparing to go to perform the ongoing Durga Puja. At that time, Aslam Hossain, holding a wooden batam in his hand, stood in front of the office of the duty officer working inside the police station. At that time, the female constable, Smriti Akhtar, who was on sentry duty at the main gate of the building inside the police station premises, asked him about his identity and the reason for coming to the police station. At that time, Aslam, without responding to the female constable, started hitting Constable Mahmudul Hasan Rocky, who was standing next to him, with the batam. Constable Mahmudul Hasan Rocky was injured in the left jaw due to the allopathic beating and ran to save himself, when Aslam chased him. At that time, Constable Mahmudul Hasan Rocky was bleeding.
When other police members saw this incident and tried to stop Aslam, he became even more furious and hit the pickup driver of the police station, Constable Masud Rana, on the back. In this situation, SI (unarmed) Ahsan Habib came forward to rescue Constable Masud Rana, but Aslam also beat him up. Pickup driver Constable Masud Rana and SI (unarmed) Ahsan Habib were seriously injured. Later, when the police station OC Investigation Imayedul Zahedi and other police members came forward to stop Aslam, he threw the wooden baton in his hand and quickly fled from the police station. The injured police members in the incident were given first aid at Kalai Upazila Health Complex. The next day, the police filed a case against the accused Aslam Hossain and arrested him that night. The statement also mentioned that there are multiple cases against the accused Aslam in different police stations of the district under the Narcotics and Gambling Acts.
Confirming the incident, Kalai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saidul Alam said, “A young man named Aslam Hossain entered the police station and attacked three policemen, seriously injuring them. I was on duty as a minister at the time of the incident. The police filed a case with the police station the next day. Aslam, who was involved in the incident, was arrested and sent to the Joypurhat Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday afternoon.”
