BNP’s Gaibandha district general secretary Mahmudunnabi Titul has been accused of tarnishing the party’s image through controversial activities. BNP’s reserved women’s seat MP Momtaz Alo Ahmed has demanded that necessary organizational measures be taken, including issuing him a show cause notice.

He made this demand in a written letter sent to the district BNP president on Tuesday (October 20).

The letter mentions that the MP visited Gaibandha on October 18 and 19 to visit various puja mandap in Gaibandha district, distribute saris and participate in rice distribution programs in riverside areas. During this time, it is alleged that District BNP General Secretary Mahmudunnabi Titul introduced him to a leader associated with the Awami League at the Gaibandha Circuit House.

The letter further states that without clarifying the political identity of the person, he was introduced as the principal of a college and the issue of nationalizing the college was presented. The MP also alleged that the district BNP general secretary stood nearby and took pictures.

The letter mentioned that such actions by a responsible party leader are undesirable and politically embarrassing. He also claimed that it is likely to tarnish the image of the district BNP and create confusion in the public mind.

In this situation, MP Momtaz Alo Ahmed has requested a written explanation from District BNP General Secretary Mahmudunnabi Titul and to take necessary organizational measures according to the party constitution if the allegations are found to be true.

With Gaibandha District BNP General Secretary Mahmudunnabi Titul ATM Rasheduzzaman Rokon, general secretary of Fulchhari Upazila Jubo League and principal of Kanchipara Degree College , presented flowers to MP Momtaz Alo Ahmed at Gaibandha Circuit House . When such a picture went viral on social media, various criticisms started among the party leaders and activists.

After the incident went viral on social media, MP Momtaz Alo was seen speaking on the matter in a video message. There, he said, “I don’t know anyone from Dhaka. Who is Awami League? Leaders of the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Front have come to my event, teachers from various colleges have come. And now there is no Awami League, everyone has come. Who is BNP, who is Awami League—I will understand if local leaders introduce it to me.”

Attempts were made to contact Gaibandha District BNP General Secretary Mahmudunnabi Titul on his mobile phone several times to get his statement on the matter, but he could not be reached.

It is worth mentioning that ATM Rasheduzzaman, the general secretary of the district’s Fulchhari Upazila Jubo League, is the principal of Rokan Kanchipara Degree College, and Mahmudunnabi Titul, the general secretary of the district BNP, is the president of the college’s management committee.
