Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Nurul Islam today extended his heartfelt greetings and respect to all teachers of the university on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day.

In a message, the vice-chancellor said teaching is not merely a profession but a noble mission, as teachers not only spread the light of knowledge but also help shape students’ dreams, values, conscience and humanity.

“A teacher’s words, ideals, encouragement and guidance can change a student’s life. Therefore, teachers can pass the legacy of knowledge, humanity and enlightened thinking from one generation to another,” he said.

Prof Nurul Islam said JU teachers have long been making outstanding contributions to education, research, knowledge practices and the development of human values.

“It is through their talent, dedication, wisdom and sacrifice that this university is moving forward while upholding its distinctiveness, dignity and glory,” he said.

The VC also recalled with deep respect the teachers who devoted their lives and intellect to education and knowledge practices at JU.

“The contributions of these dedicated teachers will remain an inseparable part of the history and heritage of Jahangirnagar University,” he said.

Prof Nurul Islam said he believed teachers were not merely disseminators of knowledge but the architects of tomorrow’s Bangladesh.

“Under their guidance, a knowledge-based, humane, non-communal, ethical and prosperous Bangladesh will emerge,” he added.
