Bogura Metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami has completed a month-long Islamic campaign across the city, urging people to follow the teachings of Holy Quran in social and state affairs, ensure security and work towards establishing peace in society.
The campaign was conducted simultaneously in all wards of Bogura City Corporation area through group-based outreach programmes, with Jamaat leaders calling on citizens to unite around Islamic teachings. The month-long programme concluded on Wednesday. On the final day, Jamaat’s metropolitan law affairs secretary, Advocate Shahin Mia, conducted the campaign in Ward No. 20 in Naruli. Speaking in the Bogura College area, he urged citizens to follow the teachings and injunctions of the Holy Quran. Ward Jamaat Ameer Master Shamsuzzaman, Rafiqul Islam, Rajib Uddin and Abdul Momin, among others, were present during the campaign.
Jamaat leaders said the month-long Islamic campaign was organised with the aim of promoting peace and prosperity in society. They claimed that the Muslim Ummah remained influential in the world when social and state affairs were conducted in accordance with the Quran, while the community later faced humiliation, exploitation and oppression after turning towards man-made ideologies instead.
They called for self-correction and urged people to follow the teachings of the Holy Quran to establish peace and prosperity in society. The leaders also said Jamaat activists were continuing to spread the message of Islam as part of their organisational activities.
Meanwhile, ahead of the upcoming local government elections, Jamaat’s responsible units have intensified grassroots outreach in rural areas. Potential candidates have also been conducting advance public-contact programmes. Jamaat-e-Islami has already announced candidates for various upazila, municipality and union parishad elections, according to party sources.
