A mobile court has fined a meat vendor named Jelal Sheikh Tk 25,000 for slaughtering a sick cow and selling the meat in the market in Sadullapur, Gaibandha.
The operation was conducted in the Bazar More area of the upazila town on Tuesday (September 29) morning. The mobile court was conducted by Sadullapur Upazila Executive Officer Rawjatun Jannat.
The Upazila Executive Officer said that the raid was conducted based on the information that a sick cow was being slaughtered and its meat was being sold to general buyers. At that time, the beef was seized. The accused seller admitted to slaughtering the sick cow. Later, he was fined Tk 25,000 under the Animal Slaughter and Meat Quality Control Act.
