Three people have been killed in separate accidents on the highway and regional roads Bogura. Six more seriously injured people are being treated in hospitals. The bereaved families are mourning. Tears were seen in the hospital corridor.
A woman was killed when an ambulance carrying a dead body overturned on the Ranirhat-Malancha regional road in Shajahanpur upazila on Monday morning. Three others were injured in the accident. The same day, around 9 am, an accident occurred on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in front of TMSS Medical College Hospital in Bogura. Two passengers of an autorickshaw were killed and three others were injured when a bus hit them.
The deceased are CNG driver Shafiqul Islam (45), son of Majnu Akand of Rampur Mohalla in Kahaloo Upazila, Arafat Hossain (17), son of Jahangir Alam, and Khadija Begum (52), wife of Nuruzzaman Mondal of Bandighi esubpur Mohalla in Bogura Sadar Upazila.
This information was confirmed by Kunderhat Highway Police Station OC Roice Uddin and Shajahanpur Police Station OC Ashiq Iqbal. The process of taking action under the Road Transport Act is underway in these incidents. The killer bus could not be identified. Six people injured in separate accidents have been rescued and admitted to the hospital.
Police said that the CNG-powered auto-rickshaw was crushed by an unknown bus on the highway in front of TMSS Hospital. Driver Shafiqul Islam and passenger Arafat died on the spot.
Meanwhile, Khadija Begum lost her life in a road accident while returning home with the body of her relative. Her son, daughter-in-law and grandson were injured. The incident took place on the regional road in Mathilchapar area of Shajahanpur upazila.
It is learned that Kohinoor Begum (70), mother-in-law of Khadija Begum’s daughter Jannat, was ill and undergoing treatment. She died at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital on Sunday night. Khadija was returning home with the body in an ambulance in the morning. On the way, the ambulance carrying the body lost control and hit the railing of the bridge on the side of the road and overturned.
