Police have arrested a young man named Md. Humayun Kabir Duke (21) in Sundarganj, Gaibandha, for making abusive and offensive comments about Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on social media Facebook.
The arrested Humayun Kabir is the son of Md. Baktar Hossain of Panchgachhi Shantiram village in Shantiram Union of Duke Upazila.

On Sunday (September 20) afternoon, Md. Selim Reza, in-charge of the Kanchibari Police Investigation Center in Sundarganj, confirmed the matter.

Police said that a few days ago, Humayun Kabir Duke posted an offensive status about the Prime Minister on his Facebook ID. The matter came to the attention of the police when the status spread on social media. After that, he went into hiding.

Later, on Saturday (September 19) night, based on a secret tip-off, a raid was conducted and he was arrested from his computer shop near Majumdarhat Bridge in the upazila.

In this incident, a case has been filed under Section 25(1) of the Cyber ​​Security Act, 2026 on charges of attempting to create chaos by sending, publishing or disseminating offensive, false or defamatory information on a website or digital medium.
