The activity of potential candidates is increasing around the Sinha Bangla Union Parishad election number 4 of Netrokona Sadar Upazila. Discussions about potential candidates are going on in various areas of the union at tea parties, markets and social spaces. In the meantime, mass mobilization and various programs of BNP and its affiliated organizations and supporters around the chairman candidate Md. Mukhlesur Rahman Khan Khasru are continuing.
Talking to locals, it was learned that Khusru Khan is known in different areas of the union due to his long-standing active involvement in social and organizational activities. His supporters are presenting him as one of the possible chairman candidates under discussion. However, in the election, the choice of voters will ultimately determine the position of the candidates.
Md. Mukhlesur Rahman Khan Khasru has been associated with nationalist politics since his student days, his supporters said. He is the former joint organizing secretary of Netrokona district BNP and is currently serving as the senior joint general secretary of Netrokona Sadar Upazila BNP. He is also the general secretary of Netrokona district bus owners’ association. He was also mentioned in this position in the news of a recent district administration meeting.
Apart from this, he is serving as the elected chairman of Netrokona Central Cooperative Bank and the president of Mymensingh Ruhi High School, it has been informed on his behalf. He is also involved in various social and cultural activities. Locals said that he is also known as a footballer in the sports arena.
As a candidate for the post of chairman, he is conducting mass outreach in various villages and markets of the union. Along with him, leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations and local dignitaries are also participating in various programs. At the same time, he was seen participating in a tree plantation program with a message of protecting the environment.
He recently visited various areas of the union including Singher Bangla, Faridpur, Mobarakpur, Reitritala Bazar, Shimuljani, Panchpai, Chanduria, Panchananpur and Hargati and spoke to local voters. His supporters claim that many are considering Khasru Khan as a possible chairman candidate because he has been by the side of the people of the area in both good and bad times. However, these statements are mainly the opinions of his supporters and some local residents; the election results or the final decision of the voters are not yet known.
Chairman candidate Md. Mukhlesur Rahman Khan Khasru said, “I feel happy only when I can serve people. Putting a smile on people’s faces is the biggest achievement for me. I want to work with the union residents to build Singher Bangla Union as a green and modern model union.”
He said that if elected, he will work with emphasis on civic amenities, communication system, environment and social development of the people of the union. For this, he sought the prayers, cooperation and support of the people of the union.
As the potential candidates’ activities surrounding the local elections increase, the various markets and towns of the union are becoming more lively. Who the voters will ultimately choose is now the focus of the election discussions in Singher Bangla Union.
