Three pharmacies in Kotalipara, Gopalganj, have been fined a total of Tk 11,000 following a mobile court drive.
The operation was conducted jointly by the Upazila administration and the Directorate General of Drug Administration on Thursday afternoon (September 17) in front of the Kotalipara 100-bed Hospital.
During the drive, Kasem Medical Hall was fined Tk 5,000 for possessing unauthorized medicines and holding an expired drug license; Khan Pharmacy was fined Tk 3,000 for stocking expired medicines; and Maa Medical Pharmacy was also fined Tk 3,000 for the same offense.
The operation was led by Kotalipara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Saif-ul Arefin, alongside Md. Faizul Haque, Drug Superintendent of the Directorate General of Drug Administration (Gopalganj), and Sub-Inspector (SI) Tania.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Saif-ul Arefin stated, “Keeping expired and unauthorized medicines in pharmacies poses a risk to public health. Such drives will continue to ensure the quality and legitimacy of medicines. Legal action will be taken against those who operate their businesses in violation of regulations.”
