The 12th edition of the National Science Debate Festival was held in Joypurhat under the joint initiative of Bangladesh Freedom Foundation (BFF) and Samakal. On Wednesday, 24 science students from 8 secondary level educational institutions across the district participated in the event. The National Science Debate Festival was held in the Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium of Kalai Moen Uddin Government High School in the battle of arguments. Many people, including judges, moderators, timekeepers and science students, were present at the event.  
The champion of the debate festival was Panchbibi Nasir Mandal Government Girls High School of the district and the runner-up was Kalai Moen Uddin Government High School. Joypurhat Government Girls High School secured the third place. Maliha Momtaz of the champion team was selected as the best speaker. Akkelpur Upazila Academic Supervisor Mir Mohammad Ali was the moderator of the debate festival. The judges were Md. Noor Alam Siddiqui, Head of the Bangla Department of Akkelpur Mujibur Rahman Government College, Md. Siddiqur Rahman Talukder, Headmaster of Kashira High School, and Md. Abdul Bashed, Assistant Headmaster of Gopinathpur High School. 
Kalai Upazila Executive Officer Md. Faisal Ahmed inaugurated the event at 10 am by playing the national anthem, hoisting the national flag, and releasing pigeons and balloons. District Education Officer Md. Azizul Hakim was present at the time. 
The participants in the day-long debate festival included Joypurhat Ramdeo Government High School, Joypurhat Government Girls’ High School, Kalai Moen Uddin Government High School, Kalai Kakoli Shishu Niketan and Sadar High School, Panchbibi Lal Bihari Pilot Government High School, Panchbibi Nasir Mandal Government Girls’ High School, Akkelpur Fajr Uddin Government Pilot High School and Jamalganj High School. 
In the afternoon, Kalai Upazila Executive Officer Md. Faisal Ahmed was present as the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony and handed over the prizes to the winners. Present at the time were Kalai Moen Uddin Government High School Acting Headmaster Saiful Islam Bakul, Akkelpur Pilot Girls High School Headmaster Md. Abdul Momin, Kaler Kantho and News-24 District Representative Alamgir Chowdhury, Kalai Journalists Council General Secretary MA Karim, Samakal District Representative and Coordinator Shaharul Alam, Akkelpur Representative Moudud Ahmed, Khetlal Representative Nazrul Islam, Kaler Kantho Kalai Representative SM Saud Abdullah, Janakantho Kalai Representative Mokaram Hossain, Naya Diganta Digital Department District Representative Rabiul Islam Akand, journalists Roni Akand, Ataur Rahman, Selim Sarwar and many others were present.
