A participatory development action plan meeting has been held to improve the quality of service of community clinics in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila and the availability and increase of healthcare services for the people.
The meeting was held at the Thakurgaon Municipal Community Center on Wednesday afternoon, organized by the Citizen Voice Action (CVA) Working Group and in collaboration with World Vision Bangladesh, Reacts In Project.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Anisur Rahman presided over the meeting, where Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Khairul Islam spoke as the chief guest. Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Abul Bashar Md. Sayeduzzaman, Press Club President Lutfor Rahman Mithu, Upazila Family Planning Officer Nadia Akhter and others spoke as special guests.
The meeting was organized as an important and final step in the social accountability process to improve the quality of services provided by the community clinics. The meeting discussed in detail the service standards set by the community clinics. In addition, the CVA team representatives presented the opinions collected from various stakeholders and communities on the extent to which people are actually receiving these services, the availability, quality, accessibility of the services, the meetings of the community clinic management committee and existing barriers.
It is worth noting that this initiative has been taken with the aim of improving the quality of healthcare at the local level, increasing accountability, and turning community clinics into more people-friendly and effective healthcare centers through public participation.
