Six people died of dengue, and 1,561 were hospitalised after being infected with dengue in the last 24 hours till 8:00am today, according to a regular report of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the new hospitalized dengue patients, 627 were in Dhaka Division, 93 in Mymensingh Division, 181 in Chattogram Division, 275 in Khulna Division, 202 in Barishal Division, 104 in Rajshahi, 73 in Rangpur Division and six in Sylhet Division.
According to the report, a total of 51,837 dengue patients have so far been hospitalized across the country this year. With the six deaths in the past 24 hours, the death toll from the disease stood at 149 this year.
However, in the last 24 hours, 1,394 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals. This year, so far, 48,093 dengue patients have recovered and returned home after receiving treatment in hospitals.
A total of 102,861 people were infected with dengue, and 413 people died from the disease last year.
