Abdul Mannan—poet, writer, and President of the Kishoreganj Upazila Reporters'
Unity—has received a 'Gunijan Sammanana' (Distinguished Person Award)
from the District Shilpakala Academy, Nilphamari, in recognition of his
significant contributions to various fields of art and culture.The award
ceremony was held on Thursday (September 10) at 3:00 PM in the
auditorium of the District Shilpakala Academy, Nilphamari, organized to
encourage creative cultural practices at the local level.Ms. Nuzhat Tasnim
Aon, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), presided over the event
organized by the District Shilpakala Academy, Nilphamari.Deputy
Commissioner and District Magistrate Mohammad Nayiruzzaman attended
the event as the chief guest.Also present were District Cultural Officer Ms.
Nuzhat Tabassum Rimu, Senior Instructor of the District Shilpakala
Academy Ms. Tasnim Fouzia Opel, and other award recipients. Leaders
from various political parties, students from different educational
institutions, artists from various organizations, and members of the civil
society were also in attendance.
Speakers at the event emphasized that art and culture serve as primary
vehicles for a nation's identity, intellect, and values. The role of art and
culture in fostering creativity, humanity, and aesthetic sensibility within a
society is undeniable. Attendees expressed the view that duly recognizing
and honoring the contributions of local writers, poets, artists, cultural
activists, and cultural organizations will inspire the younger generation and
foster the development of healthy cultural practices among them.
