In a special operation, the police of Durgapur Police Station in the border area of Netrokona have seized about 480 bottles of Indian Phensedyl. At the same time, one person has been arrested.
The arrested person is Hridoy (22) from Markasmore area of Durgapur Municipality, Durgapur Upazila, Netrakona District.
District Police Media Spokesperson Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Hafizul Islam confirmed the matter at 12:30 pm today, Wednesday (August 26).
According to police sources, the police, led by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Durgapur Police Station in Netrokona district, Khandaker Shaker Ahmed, along with SI Md. Mohibur Rahman, Constables Md. Alamgir Hossain Biplob and Md. Abdul Motaleb, were on their way to the police station after completing their duty at the night checkpost at Jhanjail under Durgapur Police Station on Tuesday (August 25). They saw a person standing on an autobike at a place called Shimultali in the Noapara area under Durgapur Police Station at 8:20 am today, Wednesday (August 26). They stopped a police car on the side of the road suspiciously. As soon as the police car stopped, the person along with the autobike tried to escape, but SI Md. Mohibur Rahman arrested him with the help of the accompanying force. Later, during a search of the auto, in order to confront the witnesses present, a total of 480 bottles of Indian Phensedyl, which were specially stored in different chambers of the car, with an estimated market value of 19 lakh 20 thousand taka, were recovered and seized at the value of the seizure list. Later, 3 sacks were collected locally and brought to the police station along with the seized evidence and the arrested accused.
He further said that legal action is underway in this regard.
