A reception was accorded to Md. Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, Member of Parliament for the Sunamganj-2 (Dirai-Shalla) constituency, at an event organized by Shalla Hasimia Islamia Dakhil Madrasa.
The reception was held at 1:00 pm on Sunday (August 23) on the premises of Shalla Hasimia Islamia Dakhil Madrasa. The program was chaired by Md. Hajirul Islam (Azhar), Chairman of the madrasa, and conducted by Nalini Kanta Das.
At the beginning of the program, verses from the Holy Quran were recited by Ayesha Akter, a Class 10 student, and Mahbuba Akter, a Class 8 student. Later, an Islamic song was performed by Nusrat Jahan, a Class 10 student.
Md. Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, Member of Parliament for Sunamganj-2 (Dirai-Shalla), addressed the event as the chief guest. Among the special guests were Shalla Upazila Nirbahi Officer Piyas Chandra Das; former Upazila Chairman Ganendra Chandra Sarker; Md. Abdul Awal, First Joint Convener of Shalla Upazila BNP; former Upazila Vice Chairman Mahbub Sobahani Chowdhury; Joint Convener Abdul Karim Master; Officer-in-Charge of Shalla Police Station, OC Md. Suhel Ahmed; Mawlana Nazmul Islam Zahid; Md. Abdur Razzaq, education enthusiast and member; and other local political, social and educational figures.
The guests were welcomed with flowers, and MP Nasir Uddin Chowdhury was presented with a commemorative crest in recognition of his contributions. Later, the madrasa students presented an entertaining cultural program and Islamic songs.
Earlier, MP Nasir Uddin Chowdhury visited No. 3 Bahara Union Parishad, where he handed over financial assistance cards to distressed farmers under the Haor Humanitarian Assistance Program.
Later, at Shantinagar village in Shalla Upazila, MP Nasir Uddin Chowdhury handed over cheques worth Tk 20,000 each, on behalf of the Upazila Administration, as financial assistance to the families of Shakil Mia and Jillu Mia, who were killed by electrocution.
At the conclusion of the program, Mawlana Abdul Hamid conducted the doa and munajat. The Superintendent of the madrasa delivered the closing remarks.
