Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC has launched a campaign to popularize Bangla QR nationwide on Thursday, August 20, 2026. 50 customers and 50 merchants who make payments using Islami Bank’s Bangla QR will have a chance to win smartphones. The campaign was inaugurated by the bank’s Chairman Mohammad Zahir Hossain as the chief guest. The bank’s Managing Director (Acting) Md. Altaf Hossain presided over the event. The bank’s Additional Managing Director Mohammad Jamal Uddin Majumder was present as the special guest and the welcome speech was delivered by the bank’s Additional Managing Director Dr. M. Kamal Uddin Jasim . Executive Vice President Md. Majnuzzaman discussed Bangla QR and QR-based secured statements. Deputy Managing Directors Md. Mahbub Alam , Mahmudur Rahman , Md. Rafiqul Islam, Muhammad Saeed Ullah and Md. Maksudur Rahman along with senior executives of the bank were present at the time. In addition, zone and branch heads and sub-branch in-charges were connected to the Zoom platform. This campaign will run from 23 August to 30 September 2026 . In his speech as the chief guest , Mohammad Zahir Hossain said, Bangla QR is a new addition to Bangladesh Bank’s digital payment system. It is an important initiative to make the country’s digital transactions easier, safer and more accessible to all. Islami Bank is always working to bring customers and marginalized communities under the umbrella of banking services by expanding technology-based financial services, as well as to enable expatriates to send remittances in a faster, easier and safer way. By expanding the use of Bangla QR, people and small businessmen in remote areas of the country will also be able to easily take advantage of digital transactions. As a result, financial inclusion will be further expanded and will play an important role in building a modern, cashless and smart Bangladesh. He called for considering the use of Bangla QR as one of the foundations for increasing the country’s financial inclusion, digital economy and economic participation of marginalized communities, rather than just a technology-based service. In his speech, the bank’s Managing Director (Acting) Md. Altaf Hussain said that Islami Bank is continuously working to expand technology-based and customer-friendly banking services. Initiatives have been taken to bring more merchants, including the remote and marginalized communities of the country and small and medium businessmen, under the Bangla QR by using Islami Bank’s extensive branch, sub-branch and agent banking network. He called for ensuring the active participation of all the officers and employees of all zones, branches, sub-branches and related departments of the bank, as well as merchants and customers, in using Bangla QR.
