A Hands-On Training Program on using HINARI for Journal, Article Searching for Protocol, Thesis & Manuscript Writing was held at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at A Block Auditorium. HINARI is a joint initiative of the World Health Organization and major publishing houses; which provides health and medical educational institutions and researchers with access to thousands of international journals and e-books. Speaking as the chief guest at this event organized by the university’s Central Library, BMU’s Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. FM Siddiqui said, “Student life is the best time to acquire knowledge and skills in such subjects as the use of HINARI. Such initiatives of the university will further accelerate research activities and play a major role in international standard research. At the same time, it will create great enthusiasm for research activities among resident students and doctors.” BMU’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader said, the current administration of BMU has taken various steps to open new horizons in research. Thethis grant and research grants are being provided to students and teachers regularly. The BMU administration will continue all kinds of research training programs with the aim of producing international standard expert doctors, researchers, and teachers.
Librarian of BMU Central Library Professor Dr. Md. Atiar Rahman presided over the program and Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. F. M. Siddiqui, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader, Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Mostafa Kamal, among others, spoke. The keynote address was presented by ICDDRB Manager (Library) M. Al Mamun in the training session. Dean of BMU Professor Dr. Shamim Ahmed, Dean Professor Dr. M. Abu Hena Chowdhury, Dean Dr. Sakhawat Hossain Sayant, Chairman of Oncology Department Professor Dr. Syed Md. Akram Hossain, Chairman of Cardiology Department Professor Dr. M. A.
