A mobile court was conducted in Rajshahi city today, Wednesday at 12:00 noon, at the initiative of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) Divisional Office, Rajshahi. In this, Rahat Enterprise, located in the alley of Saheb Bazar Kalimandir, was fined 10,000/- (Ten thousand taka only) for selling smuggled foreign ‘chocolate and lozenges’ without BSTI’s quality certificate and clearance certificate and without legal import.
In addition, special monitoring is being conducted at Messrs. Nayan Petroleum Agency and Messrs. Afrin Filling Stations located in the Talaimari area of the city to stop illegal stockpiling of petrol, octane and diesel at filling stations, prevent rumours and ensure accurate weights and measurements.
Engineer Junayed Ahmed, Certification Marks Wing Officer of BSTI Divisional Office, Rajshahi, served as the prosecutor in the mobile court, which was run under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Rajshahi District Administration and learned Executive Magistrate Mosa: Farhana Hossain.
Members of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police were present at the time. BSTI, Rajshahi will continue such campaigns regularly to prevent adulteration in the public interest and ensure the supply of quality food products.
