A day laborer named Swapan Madhu (40) died after falling from a tree while cutting trees in Kotalipara, Gopalganj. He is the son of Jogendranath Madhu of Shuagram village in the upazila.
According to local sources, Swapan Madhu went to cut trees as a day laborer at Nantu Dak’s house in the same village on Tuesday morning. He was seriously injured after falling from a tree inadvertently at around 9:30 am.
Later, locals rushed him to the Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor referred him to the 250-bed General Hospital in Gopalganj as his condition deteriorated. He died on the way there. Later, the hospital doctor declared him dead.
The sudden death of Swapan Madhu has cast a shadow of grief over his family and the area. He used to earn his living by working as a day laborer.
Kotalipara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Riyad Mahmud said that a case of accidental death has been filed at the police station in this regard.
