With the motto ‘Bangladesh is my pride’, the elite force Rapid Action Battalion has been conducting regular operations against all serious social crimes including sensational murders, robberies, kidnappings, rapes, extortions. RAB carries out its duties with utmost professionalism in cases of serious social crimes like murders.
RAB has arrested the accused husband, Moinal Haque (35), from Fatulla in Narayanganj district, in a case filed for strangling his wife to death over dowry demand in Kurigram. The arrested Moinal is the son of the deceased Rostam Mollah of Parmali village under Kurigram Sadar police station.
It is known from the case file that the accused Moinal married the victim Mahmuda Khatun eight years ago. Since the marriage, the accused’s family had been demanding dowry from the victim’s family. The woman was beaten up for not paying the dowry. On July 1, 2026, at 7:30 pm, a dowry of two lakh taka was demanded from the victim. When the housewife refused to bring the money from her father’s house, her husband and family members started beating her. When the victim Mahmuda started screaming, the accused Moinal strangled his wife. As a result, the woman stopped breathing and died there. To hide the victim’s death, her body was hung from the wooden fence of the house with a veil wrapped around her neck.
After this brutal incident, the victim’s brother Mahmuda filed a case (Case No. 03) on July 2, 2026, at Kurigram Sadar Police Station on charges of murder for dowry demand. The accused left the area and went into hiding after the incident.
Considering the importance of the case, RAB-13 intensified its intelligence surveillance to arrest the accused. In continuation of this, on July 18 at approximately 8:00 pm, based on specific information and secret information, a joint operation team of RAB-13, Rangpur and RAB-11, Narayanganj conducted a raid in Bhuigarh area under Fatulla police station of Narayanganj district and arrested the main accused in the Kurigram dowry strangulation murder case, Moynal Haque (35).
The arrested accused has been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action. Besides, this regular operation of RAB will continue to suppress serious crimes like murder, kidnapping, rape from the society.
