Two HSC examinees died in a road accident on their way home after completing their exams in Shibpur, Narsingdi. The accident occurred at around 1:30 pm on Saturday (July 18) in the Bajnab area of the Itakhola-Manohardi regional road of the upazila.
The deceased are HSC examinees of Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan College in Shibpur, Swadhin (19) and Nafis (22). Nafis’s home is in Hajipur village of Narsingdi Sadar upazila and Swadhin’s home is in Baduarchar Puranpara.
Police and friends of the deceased said that the HSC examination center of Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan College is Shaheed Asad Collegiate Girls School and College. They had a marketing exam for business education on Saturday. After the exam, they were returning home from the center on a motorcycle. When it reached the Bajnab area, it collided head-on with a pickup van carrying chickens bound for Shibpur. At that time, two students riding a motorcycle fell on the road and died on the spot. Later, after receiving information, Shibpur police reached the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to the Shibpur Upazila Health Complex.
Shibpur police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Kohinoor Mia said that after receiving information, the bodies were recovered from the spot and sent to the hospital. Legal action is being taken in this incident.
Meanwhile, the same morning, the driver Shaon (30) was killed when Nachimon overturned in the Radhakali Bridge area of Puradia-Belabo road in Monohardi.
According to police and local sources, he left Monohardi upazila for Belabo in the morning with Nachimon in search of livelihood. When he reached near the Radhakali Bridge on the way, a wheel of the car suddenly came off. As a result, he lost control and hit a nearby tree, killing Shaon on the spot.
The deceased Shaon is the son of Faruk Hossain of Brahmanergaon village in Barachapa union of Monohardi upazila.
SM Aman Ullah, officer-in-charge of Belab police station, said that since there was no complaint from the family regarding the death of the driver and based on the family’s request, the body was handed over to the family without an autopsy.
