‘Charcha’, one of the country’s leading educational technology-based startups founded by students of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), has achieved success in the national-level ‘Youth, Startups and Potential of Bangladesh’ competition. In recognition of the success and to take the startup forward, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman personally handed over a cheque of Tk 1 million to Charcha’s representatives at a ceremony held in the capital on Tuesday (July 14).
The initiator of the practice?
RUET students Raihan Ul Islam and Nafis Raihan founded ‘Charcha’ with their team members. The initiative began in 2021 after realizing the limitations of practice while preparing for university admission exams. Currently, more than fifty technical teams from Rajshahi are working on research, development, and management to advance the startup platform.
What is ‘practice’?
In simple words, Charka is a practice and learning platform for exam preparation (App For Learning). Charka AI not only answers questions with references based on students’ textbooks and databases, but also analyzes the weaknesses of each student and provides necessary practice suggestions for their skill development. Charka is an artificial intelligence-based or AI-centered self-learning platform in Bangladesh. Through which it is possible to prepare for SSC, HSC, university admission and various competitive exams. The platform has more than 3 million questions, unlimited model tests, live practice tests, instant competitions, personal progress analysis, merit list, continuous practice system and other educational facilities using artificial intelligence.
Since its inception, Charcha has gained immense popularity among students. Currently, the app has more than 1.5 million users. Out of which, more than 500,000 are monthly active users and more than 200,000 model exams are being completed every month. As one of the most popular exam-based education platforms in the country, ‘Charcha’ has already gained the trust of millions of students.
Position of the practice in the ‘Youth, Startups and Potential of Bangladesh’ competition:
This year, only six startups from across the country received a grant of Tk 1 million in the ‘Youth, Startups and Opportunities Bangladesh’ competition. In addition, 15 startups got the opportunity to set up stalls to showcase their innovative initiatives and only four startups got the opportunity to showcase their success stories on the national stage. Among them, Charka is the only startup that has been selected in all three categories of stall display, grant winning and presentation of startup success stories, marking a unique achievement.
