Two alleged criminals were arrested with two illegal foreign-made pistols, two magazines, 10 rounds of pistol ammunition and a motorcycle during a special operation conducted by the Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) in Gazipur.
The operation was carried out at around 6:25 pm on Tuesday (July 14) in the Pajulia area of Gazipur Metropolitan City following a tip-off.
The information was disclosed at a press briefing on Wednesday by Mohammad Belayet Hossain, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Operations) of Gazipur Metropolitan Police.
He said the special drives are being conducted under the directives of GMP Commissioner Md. Israil Howlader to maintain law and order, suppress criminal activities and ensure public safety across the metropolitan area.
According to the police, the operation was led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Aminul Islam of Sadar Police Station and Inspector (Investigation) Mehedi Hasan, along with a team of officers. During the raid, police recovered two foreign-made pistols, two magazines, 10 rounds of pistol ammunition and a red TVS 4V 160cc motorcycle without a registration number plate from the possession of the arrested individuals.
Police said a case has been filed against the two accused under the Arms Act, and legal proceedings are currently underway.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police also stated that such special operations will continue in the future to maintain law and order, control crime and ensure public safety in the metropolitan area.
