Police have recovered the hanging bodies of a mother and a teenage girl from their home in Parbatipur, Dinajpur.
The incident took place in Mostafapur Union of the upazila on Monday.
It is learnt that on Monday (July 13) at around 7:30 pm, local Ripen Chandra’s wife Chobi Rani (31) and their daughter Pallabi Rani (14), a 10th grade student, were found hanging from a fan in their house in Kalirhat Chhota Chandipur village of Mostafapur Union No. 7 of the upazila.
Locals said that they were not responding to calls made from inside the house as the door was locked. Later, Ripen Chandra saw them hanging from a window. With the help of locals, Ripen, the owner of the house, broke the door and recovered the bodies of his wife and daughter. However, for mysterious reasons, the husband Ripen Chandra has been hiding since the incident.
Upon receiving the news, Kamal Hossain, in-charge of the Ambari Investigation Center under Parbatipur Model Police Station, reached the spot, prepared the investigation report, and sent the bodies to the morgue of Dinajpur Medical College Hospital after recovering them.
Parbatipur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Wadud inspected the scene of the incident. Later, confirming the matter, the OC told reporters that the exact cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report. Necessary measures will be taken later.
