A youth leader named Rubel Hossain (38) was allegedly hacked to death in Bagharpara upazila of Jessore due to a past enmity. The incident took place at 11:20 am today, Monday, in front of a vehicle weighing scale adjacent to the Khajura oil pump in the upazila. The deceased Rubel Hossain was a resident of Teli Dhanyapora village adjacent to the Khajura oil pump in the upazila. He is the son of the late Muntaj Dhali and is the joint general secretary of the Bandavila Union Youth Party of Bagharpara upazila.
According to police and local sources, due to a previous enmity, Rabbi, son of Abdur Rab of the same area, stabbed Rubel Hossain in various parts of his body with a sharp weapon, seriously injuring him. Rabbi is the brother-in-law of Rubel Hossain’s younger sister. Later, local people rescued him and took him to the emergency department of Jessore 250-bed General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead after examination. The body of the deceased has been kept at the Jessore 250-bed General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
In this regard, Bagharpara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Jalal Alam said, “The body has been sent to the morgue. Police are at the scene. The police are working to find out the reason behind the murder. At the same time, multiple police teams are working in the field to arrest the accused.”
