A discussion meeting and award distribution ceremony were held in Netrokona on the occasion of World Population Day.
The District Family Planning Department organized this discussion meeting and award distribution ceremony at the Netrokona Sadar Upazila Parishad Hallroom at 9 am today, Sunday (July 12).
Deputy Director of the District Family Planning Department Md. Rafiqul Islam presided over the discussion and Assistant Family Planning Officer Md. Habibur Rahman moderated it. Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Mushfiqur Rahman spoke as the chief guest.
Special guests who spoke were Netrokona Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Golam Maula and Netrokona Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah Al Bakiul Bari.
Speaking at the event were – Assistant Director of the District Family Planning Department Dr. Bijoy Prakash Biswas and Sadar Upazila Family Planning Officer Kamal Hossain.
Dr. Kripanath Pal, Medical Officer (Maternal, Child Health and Family Planning) of the Sadar Upazila Family Planning Department, delivered the welcome speech.
Among others who spoke were – Nazma Begum, acting headmaster of Anjuman Adarsh Government High School, S.M. Mojibur Rahman, executive director of non-governmental organization ‘Sera’, Kohinoor Begum, manager of Swabalambi Unnayan Samity, Md. Alamgir Jahan, family planning inspector, and Monira Hossain, deputy assistant family planning inspector, among others.
The speakers at the discussion said that everyone must play a responsible role from their respective positions to build a happy, prosperous and humane Bangladesh by transforming the population into a public asset with the aim of realizing the hopes and aspirations of the youth and building a beautiful future.
At the event, crests and certificates were distributed as awards to the best officers and employees in various categories at the field level.
It is worth noting that on the occasion of World Population Day, a mother rally was held at the Mother and Child Welfare Center on July 11. In addition, a discussion meeting on school health education will be held at Baluakanda Abbasia High School in Kailati Union of Sadar Upazila on July 13 to create public awareness among students.
