For the past few days, Cox’s Bazar has been experiencing continuous heavy rains. Due to this heavy rain, landslides have occurred in various areas of the district and so far 5 people have been reported to have died in landslides. Considering the situation, the Cox’s Bazar District Administration has started activities to safely evacuate citizens living at risk at the foot of the hills.
On Wednesday (July 08), the district administration is conducting special rescue operations to evacuate residents living in various risky hills in Hajipara of Kalatoli area of Cox’s Bazar city. Executive Magistrate of the district administration Nafis Intesar Nafi is present at the spot and supervising the rescue operation and is requesting people at risk to go to shelters immediately.
At the same time, regular miking is being done by the administration and local authorities in other upazilas of Cox’s Bazar to take those who are in risky positions in various hills to safe places. All the shelters in the district have been kept ready to deal with any unexpected situation.
In this entire process of evacuating citizens from risky places to safe shelters, various Executive Magistrates, Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) and other officials of the administration are always playing an important role from the field. Along with the administration, the fire service and volunteer teams are also providing overall support in this rescue operation.
