Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Shahidul Islam NDC said, “If 86,000 villages are developed, we will also develop. If the people of 86,000 villages are well, we will also be well, and the country will be well.” We are working towards this goal and have signed an agreement to work towards it. And BRDB is working towards rural development.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized by the district administration and Bangladesh Rural Development Board, Rangpur on Monday (July 6) morning on the occasion of National Rural Development Day-2026 in Rangpur.
The event, organized with the theme of “Bangladesh First, a Developed Country with Rich Rural Areas,” included a rally, discussion meeting, and award ceremony.
The Divisional Commissioner said at this time to BRDB, BRDB, you work with honesty in your policies. You should not work negligently. We go to the office at 9 am and in private institutions, we finish half of the day’s work at 9 pm. So we have to be aware. Along with this, we have to convince the people of rural and urban Bengal, let’s work together. Let’s develop the country.
Addressing the borrowers, the commissioner said, “Those of you who are taking loans should use the loan money for your own development. Meet your family needs, pay for your children’s education, be self-reliant. Do not spend unnecessarily. Repay the loan at the same time. Many people do not want to take loans and repay them. This will cause many problems for both of them.”
He further said, “We all need to save. Whether it is 2 taka or 5 taka, saving will come in handy later. Everyone should have a saving attitude. Saving can be done at home or in any institution, saving will not reduce it and will come in handy when needed.”
At this time, other speakers said that rural development is working to create self-employment. It is providing training to rural people, providing loans and taking care of their activities, as well as working to eliminate inequality. Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) is working to eliminate unemployment of the unemployed, including creating employment for women. Now through BRDB, the price of potatoes, onions or market monitoring can be done from home, rural business establishments are increasing. Deputy Commissioner of Police Crime (RPMP) Mahfuzur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ramiz Alam, Joint Director of BRDB Divisional Office Rangpur Shahidur Rahman Sumon, Deputy Director of BRDB Rangpur Nurela Akhter were present as special guests in the discussion meeting chaired by Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin. After the discussion, tree saplings and loan checks were distributed among the successful members of BRDB.
BRDB officials, employees, beneficiaries, and students from various schools and colleges participated in the rally, discussion meeting, and award distribution ceremony, keeping in mind the slogans of “Good day has come to the villages, BRDB is providing SME loans, the power of youth, the prosperity of Bangladesh, the commitment of youth, and building a developed and prosperous village.”
