Md. Harunar Rashid (46), a resident of Gopikantpur village in Manirampur upazila of Jessore, has not been found for 12 days after his disappearance. The victim’s family has sought the intervention of the administration as well as the highest level of the government to rescue him quickly. This was the heartfelt appeal made by the family at a press conference organized at Jessore Press Club on Wednesday.
Harunar Rashid’s elder brother, retired teacher and physically disabled Md. Emran Ali read a written statement at the press conference.
He said that on the afternoon of June 20, Harunar Rashid left his house, saying he was going to Keshabpur. He did not return home that night. The next day, despite searching at various possible places including relatives, a general diary (GD No. 1123) was filed with Manirampur Police Station on June 21.
He further said that during the initial police investigation, the last location of the mobile phone used by Haruna Rashid was identified in the Juikhali Kamarali area of Kolaroa Upazila of Satkhira district. Later, the police and family members went there and conducted an extensive search, but did not find any specific information.
The family said that a suspect was questioned as part of the investigation but was later released. RAB-6 was then involved in the investigation of the case, but so far no definitive information has been revealed about the whereabouts of the missing person.
In a written statement, Emran Ali said, Haruna Rashid’s family consists of a wife, a married daughter, a daughter studying in seventh grade, and a four-year-old son. He was the only earning member of the family. After his sudden disappearance, the entire family is now facing extreme humanitarian and financial crisis.
At the press conference, the family members sought urgent intervention from the administration as well as the Prime Minister to quickly rescue Harunar Rashid unharmed, uncover the true mystery of the incident, and take effective measures.
