A meeting was held in Brahmanbaria to demand protection of the land of “Sur Samrat Di Alauddin Sangeetangan”, established in the house of Ustad Alauddin Khan, the great sage of raga and classical music of the subcontinent, and the world-renowned Sangeethacharya.
The human chain was organized by the Sur Samrat Di Alauddin Sangeetangan Suraksha Committee at the Brahmanbaria Press Club premises on Monday morning.
The human chain was attended by various social, political, and cultural organizations, music, recitation, and dance students of the Ustad Alauddin Sangeetangana, and prominent figures of the city.
During the human chain, Brahmanbaria District BNP General Secretary and District Council Administrator Md. Sirajul Islam Siraj addressed the gathering as the chief guest under the chairmanship of Sur Samrat Di Alauddin Sangeetangan Suraksha Committee convener and former PP Adv. Md. Shafiqul Islam and moderated by District BNP Organizing Secretary Asaduzzaman Shahin.
District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Mubarak Hossain Akand, District BNP Senior Vice President Zahirul Haque Khokon, District BNP Vice President Adv. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan Khokon, Brahmanbaria Press Club President Javed Rahim Bijon, District Sahitya Academy President Poet Joydul Hossain and Sur Samrat Di Alauddin Sangeetangan General Secretary Manjurul Alam among others spoke.
The speakers at the human chain said that Sur Samrat Ustad Alauddin Khan, the great man of raga and classical music of the subcontinent, purchased 49 percent of the land on the old Jail Road in Brahmanbaria city in 1955. Later, he established “Sur Samrat the Alauddin Music Center” in his own name at his house. Where children and teenagers learn about music. The institution has been running for many years with various government assistance.
But recently, a group is trying to seize the land of Sur Samrat Ustad Alauddin Sangeetangan through fake documents, which is highly condemnable. The speakers strongly condemned and protested against such an attempt and said that no one will be allowed to seize the land of Sur Samrat Ustad Alauddin Sangeetangan, which is associated with the history and heritage of Brahmanbaria. The land grabbers will be stopped at any cost. The speakers called on everyone to unite regardless of party or opinion to protect the land. It was announced that the legal fight will continue to protect the land of Sangeetangan from the human chain. And they demanded that this property of Ustad Alauddin Khan be declared an archaeological asset and protected.
The human chain was attended by freedom fighter Motilal Banik, member of Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Memorial Library and general secretary of the District Anushilan Cultural Center, freedom fighter Syed Md. Jamal and president Zahirul Islam, members of the Sur Samrat Di Alauddin Sangeetangan Suraksha Committee, Adv. Abdun Noor, Adv. Md. Nasir, headmaster of Brahmanbaria High School, Md. Mostafa Kamal, headmaster of Niaz Muhammad High School, Shahidul Islam, headmaster of Bhadughar Mahbubul Huda Municipal Adarsh High School, H.M. Shamim, assistant professor of Brahmanbaria Government Women’s College, Rashedullah Bhuiyan, and progressive figures from various political parties, cultural activists, journalists and others.
